The common perception of Mallorca as a lager-lout destination is at best unfair, and when you go to somewhere like Camp de Mar you wonder how on earth it ever came about. You will probably want a car if you stay there, but let’s face it that is not a problem on Mallorca – I pick one up at the airport, it’s about 45 minutes drive south west and there is no problem parking. The village has few shops, bars or restaurants, but two lovely beaches – one with the usual beach umbrellas etc and the other just sand and rocks – wonderful swimming. The other joy of Camp de Mar is that you can go walking for miles without any fear of trespass. Golf is a big thing there if that’s what you like – but it doesn’t take over.
The Villa Real is pleasant, wholly unpretentious, comfortable and, if you don’t feel like the short walk down to the beach, self sufficient with pool, bar, etc.
We have stayed twice and will almost certainly go again. I can think of no better and easier location for a relaxing holiday with Mallorca’s usually wonderful weather.
