Villa Mouria is located at the top of a rather steep road from the centre of Kassiopi. The road can be somewhat daunting when walking it, especially in the heat, but getting to the top is well worth the effort. The villa has great privacy and little noise travels from the town below. Outside the villa there is a standard-sized swimming pool (cleaned daily), a wooden table complete with chairs and parasols, a pool table, table-tennis table and a barbeque. There is extensive patio tiling all round the front of the villa leading to the exit. All of excellent standard. A couple of cautionary points. There are trees/bushes over the pool, as well as round the perimeters, where mosquitos are prevalent and care should be taken with regard to protection against bites. Also there are a lot of slopes and steps and young children need to be supervised closely.
The substantial villa is built into the hillside with steps up both sides. The ground floor comprises a large open-plan living area which has comfortable small sofas and a coffee-table, a large wooden dining-table and a compact and smart kitchen area tucked away in a corner. All beautifully decorated and a very relaxing atmosphere with TV / stereo facilities thrown in. There is also a toilet on the ground floor. As well as the main door there is a side door to the patio area.
A wooden, curved stairwell, with an ornate stonework wall on one side, takes you upstairs to the bedrooms of which there are three all with their own bathrooms and external balconys. There are two beds in every room and all rooms are tastefully decorated and have adequate wardrobe facilities. There is a washing-machine in the biggest of the bathrooms. A major criticism would be the extremely hard mattresses on all beds – a problem I have encountered before in Corfu. I solved the problem by using all the spare pillows to construct a soft surface to lie on. Two of the balconys offer splendid panoramas of Kassiopi and the surrounding area – the other one is to the back of the villa and is an exit to the outside.
In summary Villa Mouria was a wonderful holiday facility for a family and one I would truely recomend but qualified by the minor negatives I have mentioned.
