For English National Trust members, it pays to check which other countries have reciprocal arrangements. We paid only 3 euros to visit Villa del Balbianello in Lenno on Lake Como. It is an amazing property and gardens with a varied history. The guided tour around the villa highlighted the extensive art collection of the last owner Guido Monzino. There is a personal collection of Monzino’s artic exploring artifacts, but most impressive is his collection of rare and ancient objects, some dating from 2,000 BC. The site was used in three movies including Casino Royale. The views of Lake Como are exquisite.
