We have just returned from a wonderful holiday. We searched the internet for somewhere to stay in Italy, and were lucky to find a website called www.italybedandbreakfast.co.uk which shows the apartment we decided to rent for our two weeks away. It had everything we needed, full kitchen with all appliances, lovely dining room and lounge which led out to our own terrace. The surrounding area is totally unspoilt by tourism, we really felt we were in the 'real Italy' and we thought the prices for eating/drinking out were very reasonable. The couple who own the villa are English and very helpful, they told us about the local vineyard where you can buy wine produced on-site, so we went down to have a look and loved that we could buy a 5 litre box of red wine for only 8 Euros, we thought we were in heaven!!
There is a lovely beach called Roseto that we drove down to and we also went into the mountains (Gran Sasso range) and were amazed when we drove round the windy roads and then it just opens up into a massive plain which looks so different to the roads you have just driven up on. There is a fantastic restaurant/cafe up there which serves lovely food, it's the only one up there so you can't miss it. Anybody who stays at the villa can use the swimming pool and they do provide pool towels to save you using the ones from the bathroom, and there was plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas around the pool as well. We did find out that they rent out the whole villa as well as the apartment, so we booked it for a big family celebration next year, there will be 12 of us going out and we're sure everybody else will be as impressed as we were.
