What a find! This villa in Kefalonia is small – perfect for a couple – but perfectly formed. The owner, Bob, who lives next door, built the property with his own hands and is determined that everything should be perfect for his guests. The villa is set in peaceful countryside, a couple of minutes drive from the nearest shops and taverna and 10 minutes from the beach but it was very tempting to stay put a lot of the time. The villa has its own pool, which is a perfect size for 2 people and several sun loungers and tables on different levels so that you can sit in the sun or the shade as you wish, overlooking Bob's garden full of flowers and butterflies. However, it wouldn;t be suitable for anyone disabled as there are a number of steps up o the front door.
Kefalonia is a beautiful island – very hilly with stunning scenery and lots of beaches tucked away down country lanes. There's lots to see and do if you are prepared to drive.. I'd particularly recommend taking out a motor boat for the day. You get to visit beaches inacessible by road and we saw dolphins! we found that a couple of days at the villa, with maybe a trip to the taverna in the evening, then a day out and about worked really well. The only downside is the current state of the Greek economy, which means that petrol is eye-wateringly expensive and food is not exactly cheap, either. But if you are looking for complete relaxation and seclusion this is for you!
