My husband and I have just returned from a cruise with Viking Star around the Caribbean Islands. The ship was superb in every way from the decor to the cabins. We had a Deluxe Verandah Stateroom which was stunning, a huge king size bed and large flat screen TV with two comfortable easy chairs and plenty of storage space. The bathroom has a large shower with glass doors, heated floor and mirrors which did not steam up – marvellous.
At each port of call we enjoyed an included tour which was very well organised and for an extra charge there were lots of other trips to enjoy.
The World Cafe was where we enjoyed our self service breakfast and lunch and the quality and choice of food was excellent with staff coming around to pour out our included drinks and to collect anything we had forgotten which was very helpful. Dinner was taken in the main Restaurant and you were given the choice of dining on your own as a couple or with others. We always choice to sit with others and enjoyed lots of lively conversation with fellow guests. There was a fairly even mix of British and American/Canadian guests and everyone we met was so friendly.
The evening shows were good although not lavish and the digital technology on stage was the best we had ever seen. There were large digital pictures around the ship which changed frequently and a joy to look at.
Afternoon tea was served in the Wintergarden and consisted of a cake stand full of delicious cakes, scones and sandwiches and was very popular.
There was an excellent spa with large heated pool, saunas and snow dome plus all the usual spa features, massage, beauty etc.
We will certainly cruise again with Viking.
