There are many wonderful galleries and buildings to see. You are spoilt for choice.
The artists to look out for are Ergon Schiele and Gustac Klimt. These are the well know established painters extensively exibited. Schiele’s life story is well documented. His deep psychogical issues and personal concerns flow out from his work. But there are new and very exciting modern abstract artists on show also.
The two most interesting are Herbert Brandl and Hubert Scheibl. The latter lives in Vienna. He is a prolific painter who has won awards. The works are huge with colour and movement displaying a sensitive emotionality. The white background peeps through like light illuminating the scene-mesmerizing!
Richard Gerstl is exhibited at the Belvedere. He had an affair with Schoenberg’s wife – was discovered and socially ostracized. He did commit suicide. This is a sad but fascinating story for you to view.
Vienna itself is wonderfully clean. No litter at all on the streets. The air quality is refreshing without the pollution of the London metropolis. Transport is a dream with frequent trams and tube trains. And its warm and SUNNY. If it gets too hot, you can go to the Therme Wein which is an extensive complex of hot/warm/cool thermal spar pools which is just outside Vienna, or jump in the Danube side channel. This has a beach area and swimming.
