Reasons for trip

Personal / family celebration

We booked 2 rooms at this complex for a week. Four friends needing a quiet relaxing 7 night break after the hustle and bustle and madness of 4 days in Vegas.

We were impressed with the personal service from the moment we stepped out of our taxi. The buildings are bright and airy and very clean. The staff are attentive. The food choices were excellent with various themed restaurants such as French/Italian /Indonesian and a Japanese as well as the traditional Mexican food and self service buffets.

Our rooms were spacious and had a jacuzzi bath as well as separate shower and toilet. More of a suite really. With 2 balconies overlooking the” jungle ” … lots of wildlife to see and hear from there which was lovely. The rooms were cleaned every day and beds turned down at night. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve slept on for ages so was more than happy. The only downside… if you could call it that was the lack if wardrobe space and hangers though they brought additional hangers when asked .. nothing was too much trouble. Room service is free .. but you have to wait for an hour… even for a cup of coffee .. but when you see how far away it was from the kitchen to our room that’s one reason! The waiters have a special bike with a hot box on to deliver the good.

The resort is huge. It has several pools. Our favourite being the lazy river as it was quieter than the main pool where there was entertainment. There were all sorts of activities to take part in if you wanted. We were lazy and laid by the pool for the most part.

The resort is huge and if you didn’t feel like walking then you can grab a lift from one of the golf buggies that frequently pass and the lovely bell boys will drop you off wherever you want to be.

I enjoyed the food… the nightly discos and the cocktails. I did not want to leave the place. My only disappointment was the beach. The waves were really strong. The nearest beach is a red flag one… walk a bit further and it’s a yellow flag beach .. still a bit rough. All the cabanas are for privilege guests who pay extra so no sunbed on the beach…. I wanted to sunbathe on the beach near the beach bar and toilets . .. but other than that flipping perfect. I would still recommend it. I’m not sure if they have rooms for handicapped/disabled but their are lifts. The room we were in would not be suitable due to the bath being high and a step down into the shower.

The location was about 20 minutes north of Playa del Carmen and south in Cancun hotel zone. About 25 minutes in a taxi from the airport. Pre book your taxi as they are very expensive at the airport!
