Adjacent to St John’s Parish Church church and Tynwald, the National Park and Arboretum was opened in 1979 to commemorate the millennium of the Isle of Man Tynwald. Each of the seventeen parishes donated trees and shrubs. Over the years these have grown into large specimen trees.

The area covers about 25 acres and is an attractive area of mature trees and grassland around a lake with ducks. There are a few hens scurrying around too.

It is divided areas representing the seventeen different parishes which are each marked with a small wooden sign.

There are a series of concrete or wooden walkways (take care as these can get slippery when wet) around the site with seats.

It is a pleasant place walk around or to drop out on a warm sunny day.

The National Park is just off the A1 and there is a car park. It is open daylight hours. The nearest post code is IM4 3NA and the grid reference is SC 280819
