This lovely old neo-Georgian hotel is located in a tranquil spot surrounded by beautiful countryside and close to the Brecon Beacons National Park. After a warm welcome at reception we proceeded to our bedroom on the upper floor. We had been warned when booking there was no lift, but there are bedrooms on the ground floor available for disabled guests. Found our room spacious and clean but rather dated. We were pleased enough as the bed was very comfortable and the armchairs too. Also, a generous hospitality tray with lovely biscuits.
We had a three course meal in the evening which was excellent. A good choice of quality food, presented well and quick service. We really ate too much so the following evening we opted for a bar meal and this was most enjoyable. Compliments to the Chef. The full English buffet breakfast was tasty with plenty of choice.
This hotel is popular with walkers and there are plenty of places to visit nearby – the Gower Coast and Cardiff only some 20 miles. Although needing some refurbishment – this has commenced on the ground floor – the rooms are traditionally furnished and cosy, especially the large lounge, a relaxing place to read with plenty of seating and a log fire. For a quiet break this is an ideal hotel.
