Reasons for trip

Personal / family celebration

Does the expense of staying in London put you off visiting? If so consider a stay at Tune. Wanting to celebrate my partners birthday I had bought tickets for Ronnie Scotts jazz club in Soho and as it ended late it was a choice between driving up and avoiding celebratory drinks or booking somewhere to stay. Our double room at Tune was £80 and for another £10 we added a late check out which bought us an extra two hours sleep on Sunday morning which was well worth it. Our room was tiny but as we only wanted somewhere to lay our sleepy heads it was fine. It was spotlessly clean and there was an electric point for my hair taming apparatus, plus a mirror, decent shower and a reasonably comfortable bed. The hotel is located just over Westminster bridge, which means all the big London attractions such as the London Eye and Big Ben are on your doorstep, its location is betwixt Waterloo and Lambeth North tube stations which gives you plenty of tube options. If you take a walk down Lower Marsh street you can enjoy the villagey feel of a proper London street as it has retained its character with a great selection of vintage shops and cafe’s, we really enjoyed loitering here! We took the tube to Leicester Square and walked through Chinatown in the early evening. It was great to see Soho coming alive and we stopped in plenty of pubs and bars on the way. Ronnie Scotts is a brilliant music venue and at the Saturday late show you can enjoy live music or visit the nightclub upstairs until 3am. When we emerged we enjoyed watching the world go by with a late night tea at Bar Italia and then jumped in a rickshaw to our hotel. (Just be sure to check the price first, our journey was £20). On the Sunday after our late check out at 1pm we jumped on the tube again and headed for Marble Arch where we enjoyed brunch and then a walk in Hyde Park before heading home. It was only one night away but somehow it felt like so much more as we had packed so much in!
