“Tru’s Grill House”:http://www.ckfashion.ca/trusgrillhouse/ in Chatham is a huge place across from the Thames River. If you have a window seat you can see the river across the road. The building doesn’t look like much on the outside but inside it is modern, bright and nicely decorated. There is plenty of room between the tables and there are many different dining areas as well as a bar/lounge. There is a patio outside as well. We went here for an early dinner the other day. So early we were the only customers during our meal. At first the waitress brought us the lunch menus; it was just after 4:00 pm. We asked to see the dinner menus because we had it in mind to have steak. As it was so early they did not have baked potatoes ready but we were fine with having fries with our steaks.
The evening meal comes with soup or salad to start. As we had both had salad for lunch we tried the soup – Italian wedding. It was delicious with huge chunks of meatball and vegetables and was served with warm granary rolls and herbed butter. My aunt ordered the 8 oz New York striploin ($25.75) done medium and I ordered the same thing but medium rare. They were both done to perfection. The vegetables served with the steaks were tasty as well and the carrots were still nice and crispy. It’s difficult to keep courgette and red pepper firm though. As we were having our post meal coffees more customers started rolling in. It was just after 5:00 pm and it looked like it was going to be a busy evening. If we’re in the neighbourhood again we’ll be back.
There is plenty of parking outside as the lot matches the size of the restaurant.
