This is a very good location, just off the M5 on the edge of Tewkesbury. It isn’t the best of approaches, as it is at the back of a trading estate. It has been refurbished recently in the new colours and is one of the better travelodges. Corridors have deep blue carpets with pale blue and magnolia walls. It feels fresh and inviting.

We were given a large and very pleasant room on the second floor – there is a lift so no problems with suitcases. it was a pleasant, well maintained room with a new brown carpet and magnolia walls with a pale blue contrast wall above the bed. Curtains are grey, red and pale blue stripes and are good at keeping out the early morning light. The large double bed had a new mattress. The working area had kettle and flat screen TV. There was a reasonable amount of hanging and shelf space. The only black mark was that they only provide one chair. One of us had to sit on the bed.

The large bathroom had a big walk in shower. They no longer provide the small bar of soap. Instead there is a small bottle of shower gel. So, make sure you take some soap with you. Towels were reasonably thick and absorbent.

Sound proofing was efficient and there was no noise from the nearby motorway unless the window was open.

The Travelodge now offers 30 minutes free Wi-Fi.

There is a small cafe on site serving breakfasts and hot meals during the day. On the motorway junction there is a Premier Inn and a Brewer’s Fayre. A few minutes down the A46 is a petrol station with a M&S Simply Food.

Standards in Travelodges can vary. Some we have stopped in over the last year have been in need of decoration and a make over. This is a definite improvement on those and is approaching the standards set by the (more expensive) Premier Inns. It still has the plastic mugs and no bath mat though. We enjoyed our stay and would happily book there again.
