I stayed at the Travellodge London City Airport, as I was attending an event at the Excel Arena/convention centre. I was quite surprised to find that Travelodge have moved up in my opinion. Having has couple of poor experiences in the past at other Travelodge hotel, I decided to give them a go again, as it was close the to Excel in London, I was welcomed with a smile, checked in quickly. maybe I was lucky but I also had a parking space in the hotel car park right outside the door ( paid for parking – £8 per 24 hrs). Room was clean the quality of furnishings were better than I was expecting.

I was very grateful for the extra double glazing/soundproofing, as I did not realise how close to the airport it actually was. As for location, it may not be the best tourist place, but it was extremely close to the airport and a 10 minute walk across the water ( dock) to the Excel.

I was just B&B, but the breakfast was good. I also had my evening meals there, such as tuna Baggett and jacket potatoes, The food was hot and serves quite quickly.

I did not have time, but the cable car from the Excel to the other side of the river would have been good to go on.

The service and standard impressed me, so I may give the Travelodge another go when I need a short stay.
