Ok, so I know this is a budget brand and I only paid £28 for a room but everything about this lodge was unwelcoming. First you have to pay for parking and do not get told until it’s too late that you can get a discounted ticket as the reception is up a long flight of stairs or a ride in the lift. I was greeted by a sign saying there was no-one on reception even though I had been told I could check in at 3pm and it was around 3.15. I rang the bell with no success and it was pure luck that a member of the cleaning staff was around to help. She found the receptionist who booked me in with smile-free efficiency. Security is good with the key card giving access to the corridor of rooms. The window was small and set high so that it was difficult to see out and the view was dire – a dirty, unkempt walk-round area that was presumably accessible by a fire escape. One towel and an empty soap dispenser greeted me in the shower room and woe betide guests who need more than two cups of tea during the stay! No eatery on site. This is budget with a capital B! My tip would be to take refreshment supplies and a bar of soap as it is purely a matter of luck as to whether reception is manned.
