Culture / Sightseeing

Cheap accommodation for a one night weekend break. This Travelodge is located on a very long stretch of the A27 dual carriageway east of Portsmouth. It can only be accessed on the eastbound carriageway and if you go out or you miss the turn off (next to a petrol station), then you are faced with a 15 mile round trip to get back there. This is an older Travelodge, although still modern, with a closed Little Chef attached to it. Our room was on the first floor and we had a view of the car park above the front entrance. The window was rather steamed up and the frames were stained with mildew. Not too good. The room needed to be redecorated. There were marks on the wall above the heater where the heat had previously been blowing up. The bed was comfortable enough as we were really tired but the mattress was shaped by previous occupants. The carpet had seen better days. There was a small cheap kettle and 2 mugs. The Receptionist provided us with extra milk pots and 2 extra pillows when asked. The bathroom had a coloured suite, the shower was good and everything worked OK. It was a very hot and humid night and we had to sleep with the windows open. Unfortunately, the night Receptionist decided to spend most of the night talking loudly on her mobile phone whilst sitting outside below us. To be fair, we booked a really low price deal and for what we paid, it was good value. It was OK for somewhere to lay our heads for just one night.
