This has been recently refurbished and is one of the nicest Travelodges we have stopped in. The makeover includes a move away from the orange and dark blue decore to a paler blue which is a lot more attractive.
We were given a warm welcome by reception and given a room on the ground floor. This was a large room with a pale blue wall above the bed, with a large picture continuing the blue themes. Walls and ceiling are magnolia. The room had been recently painted and was spotless. Curtains are higher energy; grey with a blue and red stripe. Towels were new, thick and absorbent.
The bed had been replaced and had a good firm mattress. There are two spare mattresses under the bed but the bed settee has gone, meaning less off the floor space for belongings.
There is the usual large work area with flat screen TV with hanging and shelf space.
The bathroom has also had a make over although the dark blue and white theme survives here. Tiles have been regrouted and there is a new and very effective shower over the bath.
The Travelodge is set back from the south bound carriageway of the M6 with the only access if travelling south. It is well screened by trees and there is little traffic noise unless you open the window.
Being in a service area, there is a Costa for food. The petrol station also has a small shop selling sandwiches.
Compared with other Travelodges we have stopped in over the last few months, we were impressed by this. The only thing that lets them down is the meagre bar of soap, plastic beakers and lack of a bathmat.
