Reasons for trip

Firstly, a declaration of interest … I’m not Irish but I lived and worked in Tralee for 11 years before returning to the UK in 2013. I write as I am back in the town for a week to meet friends and enjoy the beauty of County Kerry.

Tralee is a small town within easy reach of the small and friendly Kerry airport (flights from Stansted and Luton). It has good restaurants and cafes and some independent shops, especially for women’s clothes. The Irish women are very into “style”.

Visiting the Dingle peninsula and he Ring of Kerry from Tralee is easy, but you would wise to being your own car or hire one as the public transport is not that frequent.

I can recommend the Meadowlands Hotel, a family-owned hotel within 20 minutes walk of the town centre, with its own bar and restaurant. “Meadowlands Hotel”:http://www.meadowlandshotel.com

Enjoy the slower and relaxed pace of life, the music no the craic.
