Reasons for trip

Personal / family celebration

4 connected hotels in Torquay – Toorak, Victoria, Derwent and Carlton. Toorak is quiet and has 1st Class food. Derwent and Victoria are closer to the action with adequate food. Carlton have not tried but appears to be reasonaby quiet with the emphasis on ballroom dancing. Aztec Pool very good but did not experience the Spa. In the centre of the complex there are bowls lanes that seem very popular. The Starlight room is where the main entertainment is, bingo, cabaret etc. This gets quite busy. Arena games area quite good. Plenty of bars and lounges although the attached "Alberts Bar" seems to used a lot by non residents and at time of visit was quite dirty eg beer soaked tables etc. Whichever hotel you are staying in you are free to use facilities in the others, so if you are in the busy Derwent you can easily use the quiet bar in the Toorak. There are enough parking spaces but trying to find which car park has the empty spaces is a bit of a lottery and you could end up parked a distance from your chosen hotel. Staff in all hotels were friendly and helpful. Situated opposite Torre Abbey and a short stroll from the seafront.
