Just returned from a week on the Algarve. Lovely hotel with excellent views of the sea and cliffs. The Hotel Tivoli is set in a landscaped cove with a small beach which is not easy to access. But by walking along the cliff path you arrive at the main beach at Carvoeiro. The views are wonderful. It is an easy walk through scrub type ground before reaching a decking type walk-way. The cliff walk on the other side of the bay is more difficult but if you walk on the road to the next beach, Centeans, the cliff path can be accessed there and a two hour slow stroll will take you to the lighthouse. From there, a twenty minute walk on the road takes you back to the hotel. There are bars on the way for refreshments! The hotel itself is very welcoming. The staff are friendly. The rooms are large and carpeted, as are all the corridors (more cosy than the usual ceramic tiles). The beds are firm and comfortable and there are spare pillows if needed. The bathrooms although serviceable could do with a make-over. The tiles are a bit dated and the grouting could do with replacing.. The shower over the bath is powerful but no non-slip mat in the bath. The outside pool area is very clean and well kept. There are plenty of nice sunbeds around the pool and in the gardens. There is no need to reserve a sunbed! The balcony furniture is the dated white plastic which we replaced years ago – but this is Portugal!
