The Christmas Spectacular is a truly amazing experience. It is a winter wonderland of lights, carnival memorabilia and working fairground rides. The approach to the big barn (seating 1500) where the music and dance show is held, is lined with trees decorated in an array of colourful lights, this leads to a few beautifully presented shops stocking Christmas gift ideas and locally produced jams, marmalades, chocolate and drinks. There is a marquee that sells hot and cold snacks and in the barn is a fully licenced bar but amenities aside, what makes this a unique experience is the show itself. It would easily rival a West End show, the costumes are beautifully made, the singers and dancers are professional and the band and orchestra tuneful. As an adults only event it was a lovely way to celebrate Christmas for those of us whose children are all grown up. The access is good and the aisles quite wide. I would suggest taking sandwiches if the crowded bars and food areas are difficult for you, we took snacks for the interval and didn’t leave our seats, it was lovely to be able to take in the atmosphere without having the hassle of the crowds. Travel by coach is a good way to go in a party but if you have a car the parking is good too. It’s not possible to get there on public transport. You do need to book tickets well in advance unless you are using a coach operator and the ticket is included.
