Reasons for trip

Lunchtime on a mid-week trip to Bristol, and my son and I were looking for somewhere not too pricey to grab a bit to eat.

Strolling along Welsh Back, we came across Three Brothers Burgers – a diner offering an outside terrace, an inside space with wood fire, and a downstairs seating area with views of the Harbourside. Space is a little limited but the welcome was warm, and we were quickly escorted to a table.

As the name implies, the menu consists of burgers with dogs thrown in. Fries and sides offered a little more variety, and there was a good selection of extra toppings to ring the changes.

The choice ranged from the classic burger (all the burgers are made in house with 28-day aged Herefordshire beef) to buttermilk fried chicken burger, and there was more than a nod to vegetarians with a mushroom burger, halloumi and Piguillo pepper burger, and a seasonal salad.

Our waitress recommended the lunch deal of burger and fries for £5 (great value every day until 5pm, as a plain burger costs £6.25), which we both enjoyed, with my son adding BBQ relish, crispy onions and jalapenos to spice up his order. Both came in brioche buns with dressing, lettuce and onion, served on enamel plates.

The eaterie specialises in an ever-changing range of beers and ciders – we had a couple of tasters from the extensive list before Josh settled for Kona Big Wave, while I had the Wild Beer Puritan. The drinks were late arriving due to the glass washer breaking down but the staff kept us informed on glass availability until we finally did get our beers.

All in all a very reasonable, tasty lunch in friendly surroundings: just make sure you ask for a Harbourside view if possible. Our final bill was just over £18 for a good lunch in comfortable informal surroundings. Recommended.
