We visited the wonderful Thoresby Hall between March 28th and April 1st 2016, it was our first Warner stay. The welcoming smile of Lisa Jayne standing at the front gate in pouring rain lifted the gloom and set the scene for what was to be an extremely relaxing and enjoyable experience. In fact it was smiles all the way with the entire Warner Leisure staff proving to be eager to please, smartly attired and very hospitable.
Accommodation
We chose to stay in a Historic Room and the suite (situated in the main hall) was well appointed, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The complementary wine on arrival was especially appreciated!
Dinning
Good wholesome well prepared food with varied menus best describes our 3-Course evening meals, whilst the choice of breakfast fare was comprehensive, top quality and well presented. Our young table waiter for the stay was Curtis, who we understood was relatively new to the job at that time. He showed a good level of professionalism coupled with a cheerful manner; credit must also go to those who trained him.
Entertainment
Singer and all round entertainer Nick Jones has forged together an excellent team of young singers and dancers who provided evening shows of a very high quality. Visiting stars will of course come and go during the year but the in-house show team are as the saying goes ‘worth the price of entry in their own right’. They are all very talented young people. Their work did not stop at ‘curtain down’ as they were often to be found providing late night entertainment in the bar area. General; We chose to take day trips out but observed that those who did not were well provided for with various daily events and afternoon quiz games etc. The garden and grounds are splendid but will of course be at their best later in the year. Parking was plentiful and well managed. Bar prices seemed to be no more than those charged in other hostelries of this standard. We were impressed and are now Warner converts.
