Recently visited Thoresby Hall with my partner by using a Silver Travel Advisor code so received a good discount. Also met up with Silver Travel team while we were there. Thoresby is set in 50 acres of parkland so great scope for outdoor walks. No children are allowed and although we love children it is nice to be know there will be none around. Choice of rooms from luxury historic rooms through to standard rooms (these are perfectly adequate) Meals are served in a lovely glass roofed conservatory type room and consist of waiter served meals and also buffet type, this suited us as I prefer waiter service and my partner likes buffet service.Day time activities include, archery, rifle shooting, dancing and quizzes so something for everyone. Evening entertainment every night and while we were there there was an Elvis tribute band on the Saturday which was superb. Lots of places to just sit and relax including The Great Hall and The Library which are in the old house and contain lots of comfy sofas and chairs – great for just sitting reading the newspaper if you dont feel like doing anything else – and there is always someone to strike up a conversation with. It also has a super spa and swimming pool. Staff are brilliant, nothing is too much trouble and if there are any problems they are soon sorted. I would just like to add that the "surprise" was a marriage proposal by my partner of 21 years, unbeknown to me after we arrived on the Friday he went to reception (on the pretext of going to check on the car!) and arranged with them a VIP table for the Saturday evening, champagne and an announcement to be made during the evening by Jack of the entertainment team. Everyone kept this a secret from me so when the announcement was made I was completely overwhelmed and yes, I did say "yes" We enjoyed ourselves to much we have booked to go back again in March – perhaps as a honeymoon!
