Theoni’s Kitchen was recommended to me by the Solaris Hotel & Apartments Staff.
I was greeted very warmly by the owner and host Dimitras Chloros when I showed him his business card given to me by the hotel staff.
The restaurant is situated on the main square of Fira across from the post office and near the old museum.
Theoni’s Kitchen has an excellent Chef. She is always open to customer’s special requests for meals.
I had to travel on the plane that night and asked for a light salad which Dimitris was happy to prepare with special requests.
The specialty is local fresh seafood. It is also a Tavern. Next door is an excellent coffee shop and patisserie also owned I believe by Dimitris’ Family.
It is a lovely Greek Taverna with outdoor dining. Even though it is near the street there is very little traffic during the day and night. The decor of this tavern would meet the approval of any Five Star Restaurant Owner in London.
They also cater for bookings of large or small groups and can expand the dining space to include tables both daytime and evening at their Coffee House next door and across the street more space is available.
I had a very relaxing and enjoyable dining experience both at lunch time and dinner time. The staff were friendly and attentive and my meals arrived in good time. I returned 4 times to dine at Theoni’s Kitchen & Tavern because the quality of the food was always top notch and so was the service as well.
I recommend the White Baked Eggplant with tomato, basil and balsamic glaze and the Fried or Baked Anchovies and Sardines. The Calamari dishes also were excellent too. The House Wine is very good and inexpensive per glass or bottle and is locally sourced.
Dimitris is also very enterprising and has a Car/Vehical Rental across the street to meet all your island travel needs.
My friends from Ecuador who I met while cruising the islands with Nomikos Yachting also enjoyed the food at Theoni’s and rented a car from Dimitris during their stay.
Next to the Coffee Shop there is also a Health Food & Herbal Shop for all your gift needs.
