Second year of visiting the Christmas light trail at Kew Gardens. Have loved it each time. The lights are different designs each year and beautiful in such a lovely setting especially by the lake. Love the light effects over the water with the backdrop of the glasshouse too. Paths are easy to negotiate and it feels safe for children. Several stops along the way to purchase mulled wine, bubbly and chestnuts. Just what you need on a cold winters night. Plenty of toilets and a tiny funfair for the little ones. (Have to own up to having a ride on the merry do round).
The only criticism I would make is although I think the entrance fee is good value the drinks are very expensive but then they often are at these things. Speaking as one who suffers with back trouble I would quite like more seats around but then it would probably be too cold to stay still long.
It’s a short but pleasant walk from the tube station with a scattering of restaurants & bars if you fancy a meal before you start.
