The Wallace Collection has a fantastic array of art works, armour, furniture and other objects, all displayed in a very grand house, not far from Bond Street, London. This was my first visit and it way surpassed my expectations, as in it I found a number of Canaletto’s and the world famous “Laughing Cavalier” by Frans Hals. It has 25 galleries and is of a size that you can see it all in just two or three hours, so much more satisfying than the overwhelming size of the likes of the National Gallery and the V&A. Although I didn’t eat there, the courtyard restaurant looked very attractive. Oh, and it’s free!
