After 3 hectic sight seeing days in Bangkok we arrived at The Vijitt Resort on Friendship beach in Phuket to be showered with garlands of orchids and cool lemon tea-what bliss – this was a good start. It was a beautiful, tranquil place with 96 individual villas set amongst stunning gardens.Think privet hedge in England-we had a bird of paradise hedge around our villa and it was in full flower!! We had a balcony, large bedroom, dressing room, twinned sink bathroom and even a huge outdoor bamboo shower. The attention to detail was fantastic and the staff could not have been more attentive. The resort had the biggest infinity pool l have ever seen and there were always lots of sun beds to choose from. We did everything over those 10days. We hired a scooter for £6 a day and went native! We toured the island – found deserted beaches, visited the National Park, found waterfalls, went Elephant Treking, wandered around markets and visited Temples. We saw The Big Buddha who sits majestically on a hill looking over the whole island, went on a speedboat to Pi Pi island and Maya Beach with snorkeling on route. We hired a long boat for the day for 1900b and headed for Coral Island to snorkel and sunbathe, coming back to port later in the day.We ate at some amazing places where freshly caught fish was cooked. My last day at the Vijitt Resort was spent having a wonderful relaxing massage treatment in the Spa- what a treat! I was floating on air! All in all a wonderful holiday and at least we where taken away from grey English skies for a while. Roll on the next holiday.
