Every mall, shopping centre and High Street has any number of ”grills” both chain and independent so why go to another? Quality and price that’s why! I know that this is not strictly a travel review but as it is 5 mins from Meadowhall and 10 mins from The Arena it could be considered ”touristy”.
It looks from the outside to be a local pub, no problem there, inside, the comfortable local type atmosphere continues, what’s missing is the sullen grunt endemic to many a pub. A real smile and an invitation to sample the latest craft beers sets you up for a happy evening. The menu is definitely grill with it’s own twists and as such is fairly extensive. Except for the Sunday lunch menu, it has no pretentions to be other than good at what it does, if you are looking for designer dining, unlock your credit card and join the crowds elsewhere.
The food is freshly cooked, delicious, and does not look in any way like ”industrial cook/chill/reheat” as in the chains. The servings are very generous and super value and the service has the warmth of a local pub with the efficiency of a restaurant. The wine list is small but perfectly formed and really is outstanding value, I fear that when the management discover how good the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and the Malbec is, the prices may rise. I recommend the Belly Pork, possibly the best I have tasted.
My only excuse for including this on a travel site is to support our local services while the are still independent still there.
