It was raining, heavy rain, all day, and we were soaked through. Our ferry from Stromness wasn’t due to check-in for another 3 hours. It was too short a time to visit anything, including the museum.
Not willing to sit in the car for 3 hours, we set out to find somewhere warm for a coffee and the chance to escape the rain.
A sign on the pavement pointed towards ‘The Tearoom’ up a side lane. Not sure at first, we went up the lane and with an indistinct frontage, we found the tearoom. Very small, there was one table left.
Others were eating lunch but we were looking for a coffee. As usual, I spied the baking, pity I had no room left for it. Table service was friendly and quick.
I don’t recall what was on the menu- what a good excuse to visit again next time we’re in Stromness. It was a short visit before we returned to move the car into the ferry queue.
