This tea room is just down from the train station in Birkdale village, Southport. There is a big chain coffee shop next door but if you want to patronize a local establishment walk a few steps further. “The Tea Rooms”:https://tearoomsbirkdale.co.uk/ has a large patio and a large seating area inside as well. We stopped in one day for a coffee after spending some time in town and we’d taken the train home.
We had the place to ourselves most of the time and the young women working that afternoon were quite chatty especially when they heard we were visiting from Canada as one of them had family in Edmonton.
It is also billed as a wine bar but don’t let that put you off, the latte and cookie I had were very good and the atmosphere was relaxing as we sat by the window and watched the world go by. The kitchen is open until 4:00 pm then the wine bar takes over. Next time I’ll go earlier and try the food.
