Billed as a Christmas Banquet to include all Tureens, Platters, Sides & Dips, this was exceptional value at £20 per person, minimum of 2 people to share. Available between 16th November and 23rd December 2017, it is a great opportunity for groups of friends to get together and enjoy a substantial spread of delicious foods. And what a spread.
As a group of 10, we were overwhelmed by the quantity and variety of dishes on offer, all brought to our table for us to share. Sides and dips included potato wedges, coleslaw, olives and mix of dips – excellent garlic humous and fresh tzatziki. Mains included rich, meaty pie, Mediterranean or poached salmon quiche, lots of meats as a mixed grill – plus freshly-prepared poached eggs for each individual if they wanted – and a sea-food platter of crab cakes, mackerel toasties, and the tastiest laver bread I have ever had.
Puddings and cheese board are extra £6 each, but most of us were too full to sample them, even turning down the opportunity to try the Tiramisu! Drinks are extra, of course, but wine and cocktails are reasonably priced and with 10 people, we soon emptied a few bottles of white or red wine.
Clearly, excellent value and a great start to the Christmas celebrations. This is a small restaurant next to the inner harbor of Aberaeron, but the owner Bill already has a great reputation for excellent food. Although it was very late by the time our party finished, Bill was happy to come out and chat with us. If you visit during the daytime in the winter, you will also be lucky to enjoy a very good latte coffee for half-price before 12.00, so worth a ride out if you are in the area.
