The Setai Hotel is truly five star. Indeed, it is so pretentious it does not even have a sign and our driver was up and down the road half a dozen times before we located it.
Having said all of that, it is magnificent. Its location on South Beach is perfect. It is decorated in a Japanese/Eastern style which tends to make the rooms a bit dark and cramped which is really the only criticism. The outdoor facilities are first class – two pools, plenty of sunbeds, a great beachside bar and restaurant and truly attentive staff.
The highlight of the hotel however is the food. The restaurant is exceptional. Although open cooking with huge Chinese influences, it has a wide range of options and it was so good we ate there on both nights of our stay. All in all, the resort lives up to its five star rating and seven star prices.
