Having just spent a relaxing 3 day break at Clacton on sea at the Sandrock Guest House we would like to share our experience with you.
The Sandrock is one of Clacton-on-Sea's most respected guest gouses. They are an Award Winning establishment….. In August 2006 they were awarded 4 Stars for their hospitality service, food and comfort, this rating has been re-awarded in 2007, 08, 09, 10 and 11. During 2012 they held a four and half dot rating out of five with Trip Advisor.
Firstly, a surprisingly after we pulled into the car park situated at the rear of the premises Paul, the owner of The Sandrock B&B, came out to welcome us and carried our case into the reception area where we were booked in quickly, he then carried our case to our room where he gave us a quick introduction to Clacton and its facilities.
Our room was tastefully decorated and had everything we needed including a flat screen TV and a chaise longue for relaxing by the window looking at the sea, I would add that the B&B is not directly on the sea front but still manages to have a sea view from some rooms.
The Sandrock is perfectly located within the Coastal Resort of Clacton, just yards away from the Award Winning Sea Front Cliff top Gardens (Green Flag) and Award Winning Beaches (Blue Flag). It’s a two minute walk to the pier, and to Pier Avenue and its entertainment area with all that it has to offer. The Pier with lots of new amusements including the new 6 lane 10 pin bowling alley. Turn left from the Sandrock’s front garden and you are a three minute walk from Clacton town centre with its multitude of shops, cafés and restaurants.
A Public Pay Phone is situated on the stairway on the 1st floor. One of the little luxuries is the Free Wireless Broadband in every room which I used myself of on a couple of occasions
Each room has a folder with a list of recommended places to eat all of which have been tried and tested by our hosts, we tried Franco’s Italian restaurant on our second night and to say the food was excellent would be an understatement. http://www.francos-restaurantclacton.co.uk/
And lastly I should mention the food at breakfast, all of which appeared lovingly prepared by Jill and cooked to perfection as far as I’m concerned, and as for those fried eggs, I can honestly say I’ve never seen one cooked better anywhere else in the world….
A great little B&B worthy of its four stars rating without a doubt, and Clacton with its beautiful gardens along the sea front must look quite stunning during the summer flowering season.
A B&B and a town definitely worth a second visit for sure.
