THE SALUTATION INN is a popular local destination for it's 5 star restaurant and a separate pub/restaurant with attached billiard room.
The cuisine is all from local fish and meat and produce and deliciously prepared by the proprietor and his good wife.
The restaurant itself is like an atrium room with glass ceiling and picture windows with views into the delightful garden and patio surrounded by a stream.
I stayed for 5 nights and was well cared for by this family run business. The bedrooms are off the main building to the side on the ground floor so you don't have to worry about late night revelers disturbing your sleep. The beds are larger than king size and very comfortable as are the rooms and bathroom. I found it a quiet and relaxing place to rest after a long day out and about.
It is approximately 2.5 miles from Newport town center with a bus stand just beyond the car park where buses will take you to Camarthen and further to Cardigan to catch the service to Chepstow and London.
National trust foot paths are close by and the popular Christian Retreat Center of Ffald-y-Brenin is only approximately 6 miles away.
When I told the proprietor he had undercharged me and that I had actually stayed an extra night he graciously told me to be blessed refusing to allow me to make up the difference. That is the kind of people you will find at The Salutation Inn.
ALL the amenities of a great hotel with TV, phone, tea service are included. You can also request a fridge for your room for snacks. I give this Inn a 5 STAR rating for friendlieness, comfort and great food and atmosphere.
