The cottage is tucked away in the centre of the old fishing village of Shaldon just over the bridge from the coastal resort of Teignmouth (not to be confused with the modern apartments in Teignmouth which go by the same name) .
There were 4 adults in our group but the cottage actually sleeps 6, so would be suitable for a family. In fact we are thinking of staying here next year with the grandchildren, as the beach is just a few yards away.
The great advantage staying are the transport links. If you have a Senior Rail Card or bus pass the train and bus services are very good. We travelled to Cornwall as well as many places in South Devon. There is also a foot ferry to Teignmouth .For those with a car there is a free designated parking place a few yards from the cottage.
The village has a number of restaurants, (real ale) pubs and some small shops.
The cottage is equipped with everything you need. There is one bathroom with toilet, bath, basin but no shower. We didn't find this problem. Clean linen was provided and a generous supply of clean towels. The cottage definitely had a seaside theme to the rooms and everywhere was clean and comfortable. (I had one note of criticism – the downstairs rug had a "doggy" smell, so obviously pets are welcome here. The others didn't seem to notice the aroma)
The manager was very helpful with any questions and the instructions were clear.
Overall I would recommend this has a great place to stay.
