Reasons for trip

Just on the outskirts of Winchester, in the small village of Littleton, is the rather stylishly restored premium inn (also caters for accommodation), called The Running Horse Inn.
It has a spacious car park and outdoor area.

Of course, with the current situation you need to book a table beforehand. Once inside, you can see that the ‘mandated’ safe guards have been adhered to and the spaced tables are also fitted with a plastic dividers.

This place is relaxing and welcoming and the menus focus on flavoursome British classics with seasonal tastes and regional specialities.

Once seated we had a ‘table service’ which seemed to work well. The staff were friendly and helpful.

My choice of menu was a warming Parsnip and Apple soup followed by a tasty Liver and Bacon ‘house special.’

After not eating out for at least 6 months, due to a house move and lockdown restrictions, we had a lovely time with two friends and the whole experience was really enjoyable, apart for the rain on the way home!
