Stayed for two nights and whilst knowing this Hotel has a three star rating we expected more after reading some reviews.

On arrival we were met with a musty smell most prevalent in the lift and corridors, bear in mind that this is an older property so possibly to be expected.

Our room was spotless with a lovely comfy bed but bathroom was tiny, shower over bath and not very powerful. Staff quite friendly on the whole, the hotel has a large lounge bar very comfortable and a dining room. On the first evening we had a meal in the lounge, which was served quickly and was very tasty, prices quite reasonable. The strange thing was the meals in the lounge were exactly the same as the Dining Room.

Breakfast on first morning can only be called terrible, let me explain, orange juice on buffet was empty and took quite some time to be refilled. Our cooked breakfast was a sad and sorry sight, after waiting what seemed a ridiculous time it arrived with a curt sorry for the delay. I had asked for full English without the beans, what arrived was a cold congealed mess with half a plate of beans, the egg we could have used to play football. My Husband had asked for Poached Egg what arrived was two rubber footballs on bread rather than cooked toast.

By comparison on day two Sunday it was a buffet breakfast different staff who were friendly and helpful, the food was lovely, exactly the same as previous day but not over cooked and left sitting to go cold and hard. If I had a comment to make about this it would be to suggest they should stick to buffets every day and not just on a Sunday.

I realise our experience could be an isolated one and as the rest of our stay was comfortable I would not want to stop others from trying this Hotel, I just felt I had to give my honest opinion.
