Relaxation

Our recent stay at the Rock Hotel, Gibraltar proved to us that one does not need a smart, modern hotel to enjoy a really comfortable stay.

The Rock Hotel is dated but exudes old, colonial comfort. All bedrooms enjoy a fantastic sea view, looking out over the many ships in the harbour, and Algeciras, Spain to the right and Morocco on the horizon to the left.

The hotel restaurant serves really good meals, either set or a la carte, with a wide choice and fast service, while the Wisteria Terrace caters for those with smaller appetites or who prefer to dine in a smaller, cosier setting.

Staff are all friendly and helpful and we were really made to feel welcome from the sherry offered on arrival , to the little extras provided with our meals.

We even met several of the famed Barbary Apes (actually macaques) who checked the verandah for any left over food and even contemplated entering rooms where terrace doors had been left open!

We learned that the hotel will soon be having a facelist – but we loved it just the way it is!
