We stayed at the Railway Station Hotel in August 2017. We were disappointed they didn’t do restaurant food anymore having read the first class feedbacks before we booked. It is now bed & breakfast only. The breakfast is quite varied and I can recommend Andrea’s Full-English and they always ask if you require more toast or tea.
There are restaurants and a diner fish & chip shop a short walk into the town and Andrea did say that should we wish to order food in she would supply crockery and cutlery so that we could eat it in the Bar. However this was not necessary as we found very good places to eat each night in Douglas, The Sound and Castletown.
The rooms are clean, smart and comfortable, and being next to a station of the famous I.O.M. Steam Railway is a huge plus point. You can travel the whole length of the line from Port Erin to Douglas and all the stops in between; Andrea can supply you with a timetable. I recommend you visit Castletown where it has the most complete medieval castle in Europe. We bought a 3-Day Travel Card for £34 each which includes Trains, Trams, and Buses. Good value a few trips on the train makes it worth it. (i.e. £12.40 return each from Port St Mary to Douglas)
Being a Pub you can always pop down for a drink in the bar in the evening which has live music at the weekends. What’s not to like?!!
