Our family took over the accommodation in this beautifully historic 17th century inn for two nights. Each of the five bedrooms are very different with their own quirks and charms. Expect slightly sloping floors and unusual angles. Do check the website as the rooms are so very different in style.Huge four poster bed in one room. I chose a slightly smaller one (room 4) which was just fine apart from a noisy extractor fan outside my window. This was switched (possibly around midnight) which didn’t bother me at all but it might be annoying to someone in the summer who went to bed early.
All furnishings were of a high standard with little extras such as mineral water and herbal teas in addition to the usual tea/coffees.
The Inn itself is charming with many nooks and crannies. The food is superb and choice of wine and spirits has to be seen to be believed!
The owner is extremely courteous and helpful. We stayed here as my daughter was getting married nearby.
The Inn is on Haldon Hill (Dartmoor) , six miles from Exeter. Set in stunningly beautiful countryside. i’d love to return one day.
Only serious disadvantage (you might consider it a bonus!!) is that there is absolutely no chance of a mobile signal. We had three networks between us. There is a landline in the room and WiFi.
All in all, delightful.
