Buckler's Hard in the New Forest is a delightfully preserved historic shipbuilding village where several of Admiral Nelson's ships were built. Located on the banks of Beaulieu River, this is also the setting for the Master Builder's House Hotel where our family spent a very enjoyable two night break. The rooms in the main house are stylish and individual, in keeping with the age of the building and all overlook the river and/or the tiny village 'street' which is traffic free. Service was efficient and discreet and the restaurant served a good choice of largely locally sourced food. With river walks, museum and boat trips, this is also an ideal, secluded base to relax or to explore the forest and it's many attractions.
