Amsterdam is a city full of many told and untold stories. Every canal, street and house has its own tale. Even the hotel where I was staying has its own interesting story to tell. The Manor Hotel near the Oosterpark, only ten minutes from the city center is a converted historical building, which used to be a public hospital, opened in 1891. Mr. Van Gendt, the same architect of the Central Station and Concertgebouw, has designed it. Many famous people including Prince Bernard, the husband of Queen Juliana stayed in the hospital. The well-known footballer Johan Cruiif was also born there. The local people have many memories and attachments to this place.
My room at the top floor was very large with very high ceiling. I did not find the room temperature adequate. The staffs were very caring and helpful. They gave me two fan heater to keep me warm.
I enjoyed my stay in the Manor Hotel in December 2014 during Amsterdam Light Festival.
