The Maltsters is situated in Woodbury, Devon and it’s a typical country pub, but has the added bonus of a skittle alley.
My husband was going to be celebrating his 60th birthday, and it seemed a great idea to combine a game of skittles with friends and pub food. We were able to book the venue which was an ideal sized room large enough for at least 40 people. It had a skittle alley to the side of the room, with tables and chairs down the other side, and a private bar at the top end. There was also a fire to add a bit more atmosphere.
We were introduced to the chef who gave us lots of food options. We chose a 9 piece buffet meal for approximately 30 people.
It proved to be a real success on the day of my husbands birthday. It was a really relaxing environment, and everyone had such a great time. The food was fantastic, we had roast potatoes, coleslaw, chicken drumsticks, fish goujons, sausages, homemade quiches, cheese, spareribs, pasties, all freshly prepared and easy to nibble on whilst watching the skittles game.
The bar was manned all the time, and the staff were very accommodating to our wishes.
Our friends really enjoyed the evening, it was a great way to be able invite lots of people, have an activity which everyone could participate in, and have a great variety of nibbles to eat . Highly recommended!
