If I had to pick the best place I have ever been in my life The House would win it every time. I arrived in Barbados on 16 Sept 2013 following my wedding on 14th. We flew with Virgin Atlantic from Gatwick which was superb – as we flew over the island and saw the turquoise water and white sand I could not wait to land! We were met by a private chauffeur with iced water and cool towels, simple things but to us they were luxury after a 9 hour flight. As we drove up to The House we saw an arch way with flame torches either side leading in. Our bags were taken to our room and we were given gorgeous Equinox cocktails with coconut cream and mango on the decking which leads straight onto the White sand and the Caribbean sea. The staff at the House are called Ambassadors and are super friendly and attentive. They even bring iced water and coconut ice cream to you on the beach or by the pool. We were shown to our suite by the manager. The room was amazing. The House had put champagne in an ice bucket ready for us. There was a full size fridge and a coffee machine. There were Elemis products in the bathroom and every little thing had been thought of even down to a little sewing kit. Our room had a huge incredibly comfy bed, quiet air conditioning and a suite area with sofas and coffee table. The patio terrace had full size huge velour loungers and led to the gardens and pool. Barbados is literally paradise, the sea is beautifully clear and warm, perfect for swimming or diving. There is a fantastic restaurant attached to The House overlooking the bay. I cannot rate this place highly enough. Breakfast includes champagne (started feeling a bit James Bondy at that point). Afternoon Tea is served daily with scones and little sandwiches which are delicious. It is not cheap to stay here but for a retirement treat or special occasion you cannot do better – amazing and adult only.
