The Generals Cottage accommodation is upstairs, above the owner’s office. We were given instructions but found it quite hard to locate as the satnav didn’t work in this area. It is very rural. Probably easier to find by map reading.

The cottage sleeps 4 but we felt that it would be too small for 4 adults. The kitchen was quite a good size and well equipped. Bathroom good, with a bath and shower over the bath. Bedroom nice, with a comfortable bed. Lounge with a wood burning stove. A little let down by worn sofas. There is an outside table and chairs with beautiful views.

There are lovely walks from the door, including the Wye Valley Way. Offas Dyke passes on the other side of the Wye.

There is a village shop, plus a couple of pubs, all within hilly walking distance. There are very good shopping facilities in Monmouth, which is a few miles drive away.

We had a lovely week and would recommend The Generals as a good place to stay.
