We stayed for a weekend at the Dog and Partridge Hotel in Tutbury, which is a village in Staffordshire near Burton-On-Trent. The building is a 15th century former coaching inn and is Grade 11 listed. The exterior is half-timbered and inside there are many period features.
The bedroom was clean and comfortable with the original features such as wooden beams and old stone walls. Although the bedroom window looked out onto the High Street it was very quiet and we were able to have a good night’s sleep. Being a very old building there was no lift to the upper floors, but we had no difficulty with the stairs. There was a car park at the back of the hotel. We enjoyed a good breakfast and evening meal during our stay and the staff were very welcoming.
It is a great base for exploring the lovely surrounding countryside. If we visit the area again, we will certainly choose this hotel.
