This 5 star rated museum close to the border of Scotland and England commemorates the lives of those who worked at HM Factory, Gretna, which was the largest munitions factory in the world during the First World War.
There are fascinating demonstrations about the making of the munitions by a largely female workforce, their living could conditions, their sickness as a result of handling the cordite etc.
There are very good photos of the staff.
The museum has a good car park, cafe and very helpful staff. The internet has good site to find out more.
We were a group of retirees and found the experience accessible and very interesting.
