Well, what can I say, we had a fantastic Travelzoo deal, £99 for us both for one night stay with dinner and B&B at The Derbyshire Hotel in South Normanton with entry tickets to Chatsworth House & Gardens (worth £16 each) plus a substantial packed lunch!

This 4* hotel (157 rooms) is part of the Principal Hayley chain and we were pleasantly surprised as the offer price seemed too good to be true!

Our ground floor room was a good size, clean with tea/coffee making facilities. Dinner was really good (see photos) -o ur expectations were exceeded as we thought we would be restricted with the menu. Breakfast was a very good standard too. All food was fresh, good quality and nicely presented. Staff we encountered were friendly and efficient.

My only negative was that I didn’t have time to take advantage of the leisure facilities which included an indoor pool. Spa treatments were also available.

The hotel is ideally placed for the Peak District and was approximately 40 mins drive from Chatsworth House. Derby and Nottingham are also nearby. Please note that although it is just off Junction 28 of the M1it is better to follow the hotel directions rather than the Sat nav – we speak from experience! If this deal is ever on offer again take advantage of it as it is well worth every penny.

Please read my separate review for Chatsworth House.
