I have been here twice since Jamie Oliver’s parents no longer manage the place, the first time, shortly after, the food was great, the service great in the restaurant. The second time, about a month later, chaos ensued. The evening meal just wasn’t up to the high level as previously, (I had two of the dishes I have had before, so this is a fair comparison). Service was intermittent and it turns out there has been a massive turnover of staff. We stayed overnight in the accommodation provided and were very disappointed at the breakfast. Coffee was weak and barely warm and the food took over an hour to arrive. A group of local hunters came and were served immediately with their breakfast. We had to ask for more drinks, warm toast and the poached eggs were solid. Two of the four breakfasts were stone cold. Turn out the chef had resigned and the new one will only cook two breakfasts at a time! One woman – possibly one of the managers was really sour faced and obviously having a bad day, Lots more went wrong, but this is not the place. I am sure they will sort things out over time and it will become a nice country pub with food, just don’t come thinking it is run by Jamie Oliver’s parents – the website is misleading, they have retired from the business.
